The Hotchkiss Portable Rotary Lathe pioneered in-situ engineering in the 1950's, and our engineers have continued to demonstrate inventive flair and practical problem-solving in the engineering arena ever since.

We never know what we'll be challenged with next! Our work is very varied and we are always keen to take on new and bespoke projects. From helping the Irish Paralympic team with their cycle handlebars to overhauling locomotives for the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway, we like to help keep wheels turning everywhere. We recalled our many wartime projects when we recently worked on hardened alloy steel 2metre long Torsion bars to be used within a Tank drive shaft. No job is too small - we were delighted to be involved in a residential project to help to create a floating staircase in someone's London home - and no job is too large - we responded rapidly to a cry for help to design, manufacture and install specialist subsea cable.

Over the past 75 years, we have established our name as recommended machine manufacturers, and one of the largest companies carrying out such services in the South East of England.

As well as manufacturing and maintaining these machines, Hotchkiss are able to offer Full Machine rebuilds and retrofits for roll turning and roll grinding machines, particularly those used in the paper and cable industries.

For milling machining projects that cannot be programmed by hand, our newly installed InventorCAM imachining system produces the best surface machining quality in the shortest cutting-time.

We have a staff of highly qualified, fully experienced engineers with many years of experience and expertise to offer. We have an impressive array of machinery at our workshops and we are always ready to try new ideas and methods in order to meet your engineering needs.
