Small Milling & Turning
Small diameter metal projects within the oil, gas, paper and incineration industries have called for the latest addition to the equipment and services we offer.
Our high specification CMZ CNC Lathe machine has integrated air-cooled spindle motors which eliminate the need for belts and their resulting pressure. The load capability is therefore up to 500 times bigger, and the operation is smoother, more powerful and less noisy - leading to a superior, accurate surface finish. This is especially suitable for small batch production and John D Hotchkiss Engineering have used the CNC Lathe to produce large quantities of small conveyor wheels for the incinerating market, as well as paper mill roll journals.
The non-lift construction allows clamping and unclamping in less than 2 seconds, during tool approach and retract. The 16 station driven servo turret and fully programmable C-Axis deliver 16 KW of power and 75NM torque, using a conversational system programmable to .0000mm.
The spindle encoder is built-in and rotates together with the spindle rotation - thus on C-Axis mode machining accuracy is 10 times higher than with conventional spindles.
The above high specifications of the CNC Lathe come with the Double Safety Checking Standard, which complies with EN12415, using a high security door to resist swarf damage and protect the machine's operators.
The machine is very stable, reliable and accurate and has been used extensively to machine roll shafts, top hat conveyor wheels, and boring bars for the oil and gas market.
